The UK's largest directory of vetted, qualified plumbers is getting a new name - and a renewed push to get more householders using it before they hire.
WaterSafe, the national register of approved plumbing installers, will officially become WaterSafe Register from 1st April.
WaterSafe, in partnership with the Water Health Partnership, the Welsh Government and the Drinking Water Inspectorate, has called for the end of the illegal use of lead solder in plumbing to protect public health, particularly that of children. The call is targeted at nurseries, schools and public buildings because of the impacts lead can have on young children, affecting their ability to learn.
UK households are urged to check their stop tap as the clocks spring forward on Sunday 29 March – with a survey by WaterSafe revealing 14 per cent don’t know where theirs is.
