Approved Plumber Search

Find a local plumber you can trust using our free online directory search.

WaterSafe approved plumbers are certified by our national accreditation body, with specific training in the UK’s Water Fittings Regulations and Byelaws.

Hiring a WaterSafe approved plumber ensures that all plumbing work meets high standards and protects the quality of drinking water in your home and business, in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Water Support Services search

When planning a plumbing project, you may wish to hire specialised contractors, rather than a fully qualified WaterSafe Plumber.

These Water Support Services contractors include:

  • Groundworkers
  • Catering installers
  • Point of Use

These contractors are not approved WaterSafe plumbers, but they are recognised by the water company schemes APLUS, TAPS, WaterMark and WIAPS to carry out specific types of work in compliance with the Water Fittings Regulations and Byelaws.

Groundworkers

Groundworkers can work on the supply pipe (the underground pipe) supplying your property, up to the internal stop valve.

Catering installers

Catering Installers can install commercial kitchen equipment.

Point of Use installers

Point of Use Installers can install cold water chillers connected directly to the mains.

For further information or help, you should contact the relevant water company scheme.

Emergency Plumber Search

Find a local WaterSafe approved plumber to help with your emergency.

For leaks, burst pipes, or other plumbing emergencies, WaterSafe’s emergency search will give you the contact details of a plumber who can help right away.

If you have no water, very low pressure or concerns about the quality of your water, you should contact your local water company straight away.

 Watersafe Enjoys Successful Launch

After months of hard work and development, the launch of WaterSafe has been a great success with new members joining daily and thousands of visits recorded on the website.

A month on from the official London launch event at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster, the WaterSafe Installers' Scheme now has more than 3,500 Recognised plumbing professionals registered and employed by over 1,600 Approved businesses.

Representatives throughout the water industry attended the launch on Tuesday, October 8, with words from Andy Foster of the Trading Standards Institute, Kevin Wellman, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), Julie Spinks, Managing Director of the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and WaterSafe Recognised plumber, Colin Stainer.

Industry support combined with endorsement from partners and our members alike has been instrumental to the advancement of WaterSafe as a preferred national plumbing register, offering credibility to businesses and peace-of-mind to customers on a national scale.

The Scheme, described as showcasing "joined-up thinking at its finest", has been in development since early 2012 and applications have been accepted from eligible existing members of the seven Approved Contractors' Schemes.

With the backing of all UK water companies, the Worshipful Company of Plumbers and Water UK, not to mention the seven Approved Contractors' Schemes offering WaterSafe membership, the WaterSafe message has been spread far and wide.

An extensive media campaign has been the main driving force behind the success of the Scheme. TV coverage and radio interviews featuring, among others, consumer champion, Alice Beer, have helped broadcast WaterSafe across Britain with more than 60 news articles published in regional press and trade magazines.

Looking ahead to 2014, WaterSafe will be launching the second phase of consumer campaigns, highlighting the importance of using a WaterSafe Approved business and we also look forward to welcoming new members onto the Scheme - which is free to join for eligible existing members of the seven Approved Contractors' Schemes: APHC, CIPHE, SNIPEF, WIAPS, Anglian Water's A Plus, Seven Trent Water's WaterMark and Thames Water's TAPS.
