Joining WaterSafe

Point of Use Installers


WaterSafe is a one-stop resource for consumers to find approved contractors in the UK. Take the next steps toward becoming a member today.

Scope: Approved Point of Use Installers can install cold water chillers or water coolers connected directly to the mains or fed from a wholesome water cistern.


Step One: Check you meet the following requirements to become a member:

You must have a recognised Water Fittings Regulations qualification. The full list of qualifications we accept is here.

WaterSafe approved businesses and installers must commit to the terms and conditions, including ensuring only approved Point of Use Installers issue a certificate of compliance in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Have £2 million of public liability insurance and, where appropriate, £5 million of employers’ liability cover.

 

Step Two: Sign up to one of the four Approved Contractor Schemes which make up WaterSafe and allow Approved Point of Use Installers:

WaterSafe has four Approved Contractor Schemes which offer a Point Of Use Installer sector and the route to becoming approved by WaterSafe is through one of these schemes. These are: Anglian Water’s APlus, Severn Trent’s WaterMark, the Water Industry Approved Plumbing Scheme (WIAPS) and the Scotland and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation (SNIPEF).

Find out which scheme best suits you and fill in your application form – don’t forget to select the option to join WaterSafe when you fill this in.

If you’re already a member of the one of these schemes, just ask them how to get signed up to WaterSafe. This may be done automatically on renewal.
