Joining WaterSafe

RPZ Valve Tester Sector

WaterSafe is a one-stop resource for consumers to find approved professionals in the UK. Take the next steps toward becoming a member today.

Scope: An approved RPZ Valve Tester sector can issue reports on the operations and tasks associated with the commissioning and compliance testing of RPZ valves.

  • RPZ Valve testers are not approved to issue certificates of compliance for any commissioning, testing or installation work of RPZ valves or other water fittings or plumbing systems or work on waste pipes or drainage systems.

Step One: Check you meet the following requirements to become a member:

In order to join the WaterSafe RPZ Valve Tester scheme, Testers must have:

  • A recognised qualification in RPZ Valve Testing. The full list of qualifications we accept is here.

  • Have an up to date calibration certificate for their test equipment, which meets the Approved Installation Method (AIM) requirements. See here.

  • WaterSafe approved businesses and RPZ Valve Testers must commit to the terms and conditions.

  • Have £2 million of public liability insurance and, where appropriate, £5 million of employers’ liability cover.

Step Two: Sign up to one of the four Approval Schemes who make up WaterSafe:

  • WaterSafe has four Approval Schemes that offer an RPZ Valve Tester sector and the route to becoming approved by WaterSafe is through one of these schemes.

  • Find out which scheme best suits you and fill in your application form – don’t forget to select the option to join WaterSafe when you fill this in.

  • If you’re already a member of APLUS, Watermark, WIAPS or SNIPEF schemes, just ask them how to get signed up to WaterSafe. This may be done automatically on renewal.
